e-Learning

There’s e-learning, and there’s good e-learning.

Over the last decade, most businesses have been taking advantage of the rapid developments in e-learning to help satisfy their training requirements – and rightly so. There are so many potential advantages over traditional face-to-face or off-line training: cost, convenience and accessibility to name just a few of the most obvious.

Unfortunately, not all businesses create good e-learning. By this, we mean that surprisingly often we come across scenarios where a business has converted a training course into (effectively) a glorified PowerPoint presentation, parked it on their intranet or Learning Management System and, erm, that’s it.

Which is something of a missed opportunity really. As standard, we would naturally want to include plenty of interaction within any e-learning we produced, in order to keep the user engaged…and we’re not just talking about ‘click to continue’ buttons! Your e-learning should ideally include branching scenarios (where the user is sent off in different directions depending on their response to particular questions or activities), assessments or quizzes along the way, perhaps some walk-throughs or games, animations or video clips.

Good e-learning should also enable you to measure and analyse response. Not only do you want to know exactly who’s been using your e-learning, it’s also important to understand which aspects of a particular module they’ve mastered and which they’re struggling with – in order that you can tweak and improve your learning accordingly. Good data, easily interpreted, gives you a massive advantage.

Whether you are looking for a straightforward authoring solution using software such as Articulate (which also allows you to potentially populate part of the content yourself), or if you want something totally customised involving bespoke programming in Flash or similar, we can help; and we’ll ensure that it’s compatible with your audience’s hardware and software requirements.
